AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. Moore entered into rest on Thursday, March 7, 2002, age 94. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne and son, Carl Moore Jr. He was the father of Carol Moore Zwemer and son-in-law, Jack of Augusta and Marian Moore Walter and son-in-law, Robert of Corpus Christi, Texas; the grandfather of Wayne Walter of Columbia, Md., Ashley Owens of Fort Worth, Texas and Michael Moore of Irvine, California; and a niece, Jane Burton of Newport News, Va. Additional survivors include two great-granddaughters, eight step grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Moore was born in Wilmington, N.C. He was a graduate of Duke University, and of Atlanta-Southern Dental College, 1935. He was a public health dentist for the State of North Carolina from 1935 to 1941. He then practiced dentistry in Augusta from 1941 to 1985. Dr. Moore was a charter member of the Garden City Lions Club and life-long member of the Elks Club. Visitation will be held at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street on Monday evening, March 11, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial services will be at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Robert Fain and the Very Reverend Neal Phelps presiding. Honorary pallbearers will be the Garden City Lions Club and Elks Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904 or St. Johns Towers, 724 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
