NEW YORK -- ABC Sports' NHL broadcasts are drawing about 35 percent more viewers than last season.
Last weekend's game got a 1.5 national rating, 50 percent higher than the comparable broadcast in the 2000-01 season.
Still, the ratings are nowhere near what hockey generated during the Salt Lake City Olympics. Canada's victory over the United States for the gold medal drew a 10.7 national rating, while a U.S.-Russia game earlier in the Olympics had a 7.2 on a Saturday night.
Each rating point represents nearly 1.06 million TV homes.
