ATLANTA -- Kyle Bakker pitched eight strong innings, and Victor Menocal had two hits to lead Georgia Tech to a 6-4 win over Winthrop Friday.
Tech (11-1) went into the third inning with a 5-0 lead after Tyler Parker and Brandon Boggs each drove in two runs in the first and Eric Patterson scored in the second on a groundout by Menocal.
For Winthrop (8-7), Bennett Stapf and Ben Thurmond each had two-run homers, in the third and sixth innings.
In the seventh, Patterson scored on a throwing error by catcher John Neale to finish the game with a hit, two runs and four stolen bases.
Bakker (5-0) struck out eight batters, while walking none. Brian Burks picked up his third save by pitching a scoreless ninth.
Jeff Reeves (3-2) allowed six runs in 6 2/3 innings.
