North Augusta, S.C. - Mr. Robert L. "Bobby" Key, 69, of Sycamore Drive, retired math teacher of Strom Thurmond High School, died March 1, 2002. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Second Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Albert M. James officiating. Burial will be in Second Providence Memorial Gardens. Mr. Key was a member of the NAACP, American Legion Post #232 and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was a mason and a member of Second Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Key received his elementary and high school education at Central Elementary and Haines Institute. He received his BS and his Master of Science in Education from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, S.C. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Marie Irvin Key, one niece, Debra Burton, brothers-in-law, Rev. Dr. Nathaniel (Eugenia) Irvin and Roosevelt (Julia) Irvin, sisters-in-law, Juanita Key and Thelma Taylor, uncle, Joe Jones, Sr., aunts, Elizabeth Monroe and Norma Monroe, godchildren, Farrell Turner and Emile Pendarvis Murden, other relatives and friends.
