Three people were severely burned in a house fire on Forest Estates Drive this morning, authorities said.
Cassidy Thomas and John Weldon were listed in critical condition at Doctors Hospital. Timothy Donren was listed in serious condition.
The fire at 3307 Forest Estates Drive near Augusta Mall began in the kitchen about 7 a.m. and spread to other areas of the house, where some of the victims were sleeping, said Lt. G.B. Hannan with the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department.
Neighbor Nana Ingram looked out her window and saw smoke coming from the house. She ran next door and helped wake up those inside and get them out, according to Ms. Ingram's husband, Ronnie.
Five people were in the house, but four of them were guests who stayed overnight for a party, police said. Two of those in the house were not injured.
Lt. Hannan was investigating the cause of the fire. He said he was not able to find a smoke detector.
