SEC suspends Georgia's Daniels for half of a game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chris Daniels of Georgia has been suspended for the first half of Saturday's game against No. 10 Kentucky for unsportsmanlike conduct in the Bulldogs' loss to Auburn on Feb. 9, a game that featured a brawl.

Southeastern Conference Commissioner Roy Kramer imposed the suspension Friday after reviewing tapes of the game in which Auburn upset Georgia 75-72.

He said the action was the result of a flagrant, unsportsmanlike act by the 6-foot-7 Daniels, a sophomore forward who is averaging 12.1 points and a team-leading 8.2 rebounds a game, during the first half of the game at Auburn.

It was the second suspension imposed on a Georgia player from the game.

The Bulldogs' Steve Thomas and Auburn's Kyle Davis were suspended one game each for fighting. Both players were ejected with about two minutes left in the game.

Thomas missed No. 21 Georgia's 85-70 loss Tuesday night to No. 6 Florida and Davis missed Auburn's Wednesday night 65-62 win over Mississippi.
