Sinking in



South Carolina highway patrolman Cpl. C.T. Stephens photographs a South Carolina Department of Transportation employee as he measures a sinkhole discovered Thursday. The hole, which measured 4 feet in diameter and 4 feet deep, was on U.S. Highway 278 between Petticoat Junction and Beech Island. Officials closed the road for the work.
