Lakeside teams win in play-ins



Lakeside's boys and girls basketball teams got into the Region 3-AAAA tournament the hard way Monday night, winning play-in games on the Greenbrier High School court.

Lakeside's boys advanced to a Wednesday night matchup at 8:30 against No. 1 seeded Statesboro with a 67-64 victory over Glenn Hills. The game will be played at Glenn Hills.

Antwann Glover made six straight free throws in the final quarter to give the Panthers the victory. Matt Scott led Lakeside in scoring with 22 points.

In the girls game, Nicole Bennett scored 17 points to lead the Lady Panthers past Greenbrier 63-51.

The Lady Panthers moved to the next level at Glenn Hills, where they will play Glenn Hills, No. 1 seeded in the girls bracket, on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

In the boys game, Glenn Hills led through the first three quarters before giving up the lead. The Spartans were led by George Brown, who had 22 points.
