AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Friday, February 8, 2002, at his residence, Mr. Valdon Walker Sr., 79, of Montgomery Street. Mrs. Walker was native of Washington County, Ga., but made his home in Augusta. He was a member of Elim Baptist Church of which Reverend Charles Smith is pastor where he served on the Trustee Board. He was a retired Civil Service employee, a mason, was a life-time member of the American Legion Screen Ramsey Post 505 and a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Annie Mae Walker; one son, Mr. Valdon Walker Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Velma W. (James) Johnson and Mrs. Alice Vaughn; a loving sister, Mrs. Christine McGruder; one brother-in- law; five sisters-in-law; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great- great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at 1 p.m. from Elim Baptist Church with Reverend Charles E. Smith officiating. Interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the residence or the funeral home. The historic Dents Undertaking Establishment serving the CSRA since the 1800s.
