AUGUSTA, Ga. - M rs. Louise B. Smith, age 85, of Augusta, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2002 at her residence. A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., she had resided in Augusta since moving from the Okeechobee, Fla. area in 2000. A longtime Parochial School teacher, Mrs. Smith had taught school, been the organist and choir director at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Warner Robbins, Ga. for 25 to 30 years before her move to South Florida. She was a member of the American Legion, Post 64, Okeechobee, Fla., and had served as a First Lieutenant in the Womens Army Auxiliary Corps during WW II. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Augusta. She is survived by her spouse of 60 years, Philip Smith, Augusta; their son, John Edward Smith, Great Mills, Md.; their daughter, Tracy Smith Hatfield, Augusta; her brother, John Bowery, Okeechobee, Fla.; her sisters, Frances Allen Bowery, Allison Park, Pa., Martha Bowery Tosti, Charlotte Court House, Va.; nine grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2002, from St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Reverend Father John Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA.
