BARNWELL, S.C. - John Fred Arant Jr., 82, died Sunday, in the University Hospital, Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Mole Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harry Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memory Gardens. Mr. Arant was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late John Fred Arant Sr., and Lucille Crossland Arant. He was a retired professional birddog trainer and a member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church, and was a veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife, Louise Black Arant of Barnwell, S.C.; two daughters, Mary Lou Golini of Orangeburg, Virginia "Dea" Estes of Covington, Ga.; two sons, John Fred Arant III of Redwing, Minn., Harold Dean Arant of Lawton, Okla.; two sisters, Miriam Arant Felkel of Elloree, S.C., Bland Arant Burnell of St. Louis, MO.; one brother, James Arant of Ft. Motte, S.C.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mole Funeral Home.
