Virginia's Travis Watson, who scored 49 points and grabbed 22 rebounds for the Cavaliers last week, was named the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week.
The 6-foot-8 junior from Brookneal, Va., was 14-for-24 from the field, including 1-of-1 from three-point range, and 20-for-23 from the free throw line. Watson had six assists, five steals and one block and had a double-double in points and rebounds in each game.
Watson scored a career-high 29 points in the Cavaliers 85-68 loss at N.C. State. He scored 20 points in Virginia's 85-71 win over Clemson.
In other ACC awards, Ed Nelson of Georgia Tech and Jawad Williams of North Carolina shared rookie-of-the-week honors.
