Watching the patriotic halftime Super Bowl show was a genuine and touching reminder of the reason our troops fight for this country.
The list presented on the screen of those who met their tragic ends Sept. 11 seemed never-ending. The volume was mind-blowing shown in that projection, name after name after name of passengers, firefighters, police officers, mothers, husbands, uncles, neighbors, co-workers, friends. Every one of the people who perished were connected in more ways than can ever be calculated with the society of our country.
It is these connections that make us a nation of people, thus the most tragic thing about Sept. 11 is the billions of connections broken. Amazing how such a large event demonstrates intensely that it's the little things that count.
God bless America, for we come together to form a nation that has a heart as well as a political mind.
