AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Louis Redd Jr. entered into rest on Friday, February 8, 2002, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2002, at 3 p.m. from Elliott Sons Telfair Street Chapel, with the Reverend Rich Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery. Mr. Redd, a native Augustan, attended New Hope Worship Center and had retired after 30 years with King Mill as a Millwright. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. Mr. Redd was a member of American Legion Post 63, and had served as a Jr. Vice Commander. Mr. Redd was preceded in death by his son, Leon Redd and is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mrs. Ruth Reid Redd; four daughters, Gail Cash, Augusta, Rita Whitfield, North Augusta, South Carolina, Valerie Hixon, Augusta, Jean Knight, White Pine, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Redd; sister, Betty Redd Meehan, both of Augusta. Active pallbearers will be James Whitfield, Duane A. Whitfield II, Bradley F. Whitfield, Christopher Hixon, Scott Hixon and George Fletcher.
