THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Bud Rivers McGahee of Lincolnton Road, McDuffie County, entered into rest February 9, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Bertha Eloise MacGahee. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2002, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Widener officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Stevenson, Kenny Hill, Jerry Scoggins, Chris Durden, Curtis Brown, George Goodman. Mr. McGahee was a native of Jefferson County but had lived in McDuffie County for the past 32 years. He retired as a carpenter at Fort Gordon, serving in the U.S. Army, Navy and Marines. He was also a member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Louise McGahee; one step-son, Gregory Royal, Savannah; three step-daughters, Mary Waller, Thomson, Barbara Durden, Thomson, Iris Lesney, Augusta; two sisters, Mattie Lee Gay, Keysville, Ga., Betty Boss, Harlem; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
