Fish tale

For the second time in 11 months, South Carolina fisheries officials are evaluating a potential new state record striper. This 59-pound, 6-ounce monster was caught last weekend by Terry McConnell, a Georgia angler fishing in Lake Hartwell. The 47-inch fish could eclipse the current record - a 56-pounder caught March 24 by James Robinson in the Abbeville County, S.C., side of Lake Russell. Lake Hartwell is the site of two major National Striped Bass Association tournaments, Feb. 23 and May 4.
