Jaguar breaks record

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Gary Boodnikoff's first of six three pointers against Lander on Saturday broke the career Peach Belt Conference mark of 248 as the Jaguars won their fourth straight game Saturday, 83-79

The victory clinched a share of the Peach Belt North Division title for the Jaguars (16-5, 11-3).

Boodnikoff, who led Augusta State with 23 points, broke a record previously held by Mark Hutcheson of USC Aiken, who played for the Pacers from 1994-98. Both teams were accurate from three-point range, as the Jaguars drained 55 percent of their attempts (11-for-20), and the Senators shot 50 percent (12-for-24) from beyond the arc.

Adrian Penland scored 28 of his 35 points in the first half, guiding the Senators to a 50-40 lead. But midway through the second half, Augusta State began a 10-0 run keyed by five of T.J. Ott's 15 points.

The Lady Jaguars used 22 points by Ernesia Wideman and 18 from Shundra Johnson to complete the homecoming sweep over Lander, 83-62. Augusta State extended its 43-31 halftime lead to improve to 8-13 for the season.
