Norwood to be featured speaker

U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood, R-Ga., will be the featured speaker at 7 p.m. Monday for the Rallying the Armies of Compassion dinner for the Vineyard Church-Augusta, 3126 Parrish Road.

Tickets are $25 for the fund-raiser, catered by French Market Grille West. Proceeds benefit Camp Flood, a summer program for inner-city youth. For more information, call 863-9766.

Minister to flip for church members

Flipping pancakes is the Rev. Gerald A. Varner's way of thanking St. Mark United Methodist Church members for their support. He and the rest of the staff will serve breakfast from 6 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, 2367 Washington Road.

Columnist to speak at church

Teens asked to abstain from sex

Teen-agers and parents at West Acres Baptist Church, 555 Gibbs Road in Evans, will tune in to a live satellite feed of True Love Waits: Seize the Net Goes Live! at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The simulcast will be beamed from Wedgewood Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

West Acres families will hold a True Love Waits ring ceremony at 7 p.m. Rings represent pledges by youth to abstain from sex until marriage.
