Regarding the Jan. 22 article, "Local service draws few whites," I expect the secular community to identify people as "black or white." However, to see it in the local churches is a testimony as to why there is little unity in Augusta. Pastors need to stop identifying people as black or white and start identifying them as "children of God." Only then will color not be an issue.
I wonder if when the pastor announced, "children of God stand" (instead of just the whites), how many in the congregation would have stood? That is where the unity needs to begin.
