WADLEY, Ga. - Mr. John E. Polan, age 76, of North Martin Luther King Blvd., Wadley, died Friday evening at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville, Ga. Mr. Polan was born in Wetzel County, West Virginia, and had lived here for the past 25 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from the General Motors Corp., with 20 years service. In his younger years he was a coal miner in West Virginia. Funeral services for Mr. Polan will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jamie Archer officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadley Cemetery. Pallbearers include Johnny Lee Polan, Johnny Lee Polan Jr., Gregory Polan, Jimmy Polan, Richard Stavley, and Eddie Brown. Survivors include two sons, John F. Polan of Fitzgerald, David Polan of Wadley; one daughter, Mary Lou Griffith of Taylor, Mich.; one brother, Samuel F. Poland Jr. of Ohio; one sister, Ada Kellerman of Baldwin, Mich.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Smith Funeral Home between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. and will receive friends at the home of Ronnie Polan, 530 Williams Street, Wadley.
