Knights extract revenge

AIKEN - For nearly a month after Aiken Tech's 105-74 loss at Coastal Georgia, Charles Welch waited for Saturday's game.

This time around, his Knights got revenge. Renaldo Norman and Marshall Jenkins combined for 41 points as the Knights knocked off the Mariners 89-80.

"We had talked about this game ever since then," Welch said. "We were not going to allow them to do that to us again. We didn't know whether we were going to win or lose. But we knew one thing. We were going to have to be carried off the court before we let them do to us what they did down there."

Coastal Georgia (8-4) led by as many as nine points in the first half and led 37-29 with 2:49 left before halftime. But Paul Renegar made four free throws down the stretch and Jenkins canned a 3-point goal before the half expired to trim the margin to one.

After the break, Renegar made two of the Knights' four 3-pointers in a 2:49 span early in the second half as Aiken bolted to a 56-49 lead. Renegar's left-handed lay-in with 10:05 remaining capped a 17-2 Knights run. Aiken led 67-51.
