LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. W. Ellis Lindsey, 85, of Thomson Hwy, died Saturday, December 29, 2001, at VA Hospital, Augusta. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Cates and Seaborn Dell officiating. Mr. Lindsey was born Wilkes County. He had lived in Lincoln County in the Amity community since 1973. He was a retired wholesale grocery salesman and had retired as owner and operator of Macs Bait and Tackle. Also, Mr. Lindsey was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church and had attended Greenwood Baptist Church. The family said that he was a devoted husband and father. His greatest interest was gardening and sharing. Survivors include his wife, Delores Griffin Lindsey; one son, Stephen Lindsey; one daughter, Cynthia Jones; one brother, Hubert Lindsey, all of Lincolnton; one sister, Lounelle Austin, Washington; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
