AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr.Henry Burckhalter, 75, beloved husband of Martha Ann Morris Burckhalter of Old Airport Road, Aiken, will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Rivers Funeral Home, with Rev. James Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burckhalter died Saturday, December 29, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Janet Burckhalter, Aiken; two sisters, Minnie Mckenna, Aiken, and Elizabeth Walton, Aiken; one granddaughter and her husband, Laurie and Lee Moore, Aiken; and four great grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Rebekah and Sydney Moore, all of Aiken. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Burckhalter McFarland; two brothers, Ernest and John Burckhalter; and a sister, Annabell Sassatille. He was the son of the late John and Mabel Favor Burckhalter. Mr. Burckhalter was a lifelong resident of Aiken, and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was a retired electrician with SCE&G. He was a former member of the 4-H Camp staff.He was past president of both the Aiken Carving Club and the Red Bluff Hunting Club. He performed many acts of community service. Pallbearers will be Ricky Burckhalter, Brundy Pursley, Lee Moore, Allen Walton, Andy Morrris, Steve Morris and Nat Newsome. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Morris, William Morris, Wilburn Morris, Kenny Newsome, Dr. Norman Pursley and Dr. George Pursley, Bill Pursley, and Wilson Moseley. A visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 1, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence.
