HARLEM, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday December 14, 2001, at University Hospital, Augusta, Mr. James Bryant Carter, of Bath Road, Harlem husband of Mrs. Mary Boatwright Carter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2001, at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, with the Revs. Ray Taylor and Wallace Banks officiating. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, near Grovetown, Ga. Mr. Carter, a native of Danville, Kentucky, was a retired Journeyman Machinist, and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Battle of the Bulge, and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Additional survivors include two sons, Bruce Carter, Harlem and Jon Carter, Grovetown; two daughters, Jo Coggins, Conyers and Brenda Smith, Harlem; five sisters, Peggy Atkins, Centerville, Ohio, Justyne Leber, Anchorage, Ark., Mary Lee Jones, Lexington, Ky, Betty Jo Fields, Clinton, Md., and Doris Denziel, Carbondale, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Earl Weeks, Cecil Boatwright, Bruce Carter, Jon Carter, and Phillip Tarrant. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., at Starling Funeral Home, Hwy 78, Harlem.
