WASHINGTON, Ga. - Mr. Emmett "Doc" Edwards, 76, of 807 Eastholm Circle, died Friday at the McDuffie County Hospital. Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at the Washington First Baptist Church with Dr. John Childers and Rev. Albert Huyck officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Mr. Edwards was born in Taliaferro County and had lived in Wilkes County most of his life. He was the retired owner/operator of Edwards Nursery and Docs Bait Shop in Washington. He was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lila Edwards of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Martin of Lake Sinclair; four brothers, Thomas Edwards, Lithonia, James Roy Edwards, Conyers, and George R. Edwards and Lawrence Edwards of Watkinsville; two sisters, Myra Maxwell and Thelma Moore of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Almond Standard, Brant Erickson, Doug White, Benji Edwards, John Edwards, and Earl Elesmore. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
