Empty stocking: Mother wants to brighten holiday for disabled child

Raising a child is tough work for any parent, but for one single mother in Martinez it has been a struggle.

Her 6-year-old daughter has a disability that requires constant care, and this mother also suffers from a debilitating condition. She is unable to work, and the assistance she receives from the government is barely enough to make ends meet.

She worries that she won't be able to give her daughter a wonderful Christmas.

"Please, I need help for my daughter's Christmas this year," she writes.

Through contributions to the Empty Stocking Fund, the family will receive gift certificates to local Kroger stores for food and Kmart stores for other necessities.

Contributions can be sent to Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 1928, Augusta, GA 30903-1928. Or visit augustachronicle.com/emptystocking to make your donations to the Empty Stocking Fund online.
