ATLANTA - Delandry Tanner and Jimtavis Walter each scored a touchdown as top-ranked Statesboro beat Troup 17-0 in a Class AAAA semifinal on Friday at the Georgia Dome.
Statesboro (14-0) will play the winner of today's game (6 p.m. at the Georgia Dome) between Dalton and Paulding County in next week's state championship game.
The Blue Devils lost to Shaw in the 2000 AAAA championship.
Walker, who came in with 1,742 yards, rushed for 93 yards on 23 carries for the Blue Devils, who last won a state championship in 1966.
Tanner, who entered the game with 1,505 rushing yards, ran for 86 yards on 23 attempts.
Statesboro threw just one pass but limited Troup (11-3) to four first downs and 88 yards of offense.
Troup, making its first appearance in the Georgia Dome, was held to 24 yards and no first downs in the first half. The loss ended the Tigers' 10-game winning streak.
Tanner scored on a 2-yard run with 2:22 left in the first half, and the Blue Devils pushed their lead to 10-0 on a 22-yard field goal by Wesley Wilhoite 13 seconds before halftime.
Trailing 10-0, the Tigers mounted their only scoring threat on the opening drive of the second half, moving from their 29 to the Statesboro 21 before Kevin Reese's fourth-down pass went incomplete.
Statesboro capped the win on Walker's 1-yard run with 7:31 left, set up by Martavius Davis' 50-yard punt return.
Kenny Williams led Troup with 61 rushing yards.
