AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. James H. "Eve" Underwood, age 83, of Augusta died December 12, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital. She is survived by sons, James H. Underwood III of Lafayette, La., Cone Smith Underwood of Augusta, Peter A. Underwood of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters, Christine Smith Cieslowki of Kildear, Ga., Martha Farr Bevil of Kildear, Ga., Mirtie Farr Dockery of Douglass, Ga.; six grandchildren, Cone Smith Underwood Jr., James H. Underwood IV, John Peter Underwood, Kathleen Casey Underwood, Peter James Underwood, and Matthew Glenn Underwood; two great-grandchildren, Ann Katherine Underwood, Eve Caroline Underwood; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Underwood was a member of The Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a former member of the Augusta Jr. Womens Club, The Pineneedle Garden Club, Metropolitan Womens Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2001, at 3 p.m. at The Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Gunter officiating. Interment will be held in Summerville Cemetery The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
