BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Reserve Chris Wiggins had a career-high 28 points as Gardner-Webb beat Georgia Southern 106-99 Tuesday night.
Bruce Fields added a career-high 27 points and 12 rebounds for Gardner-Webb (4-3).
Kashien Latham had a career game of his own, scoring 33 and grabbing 15 rebounds for Georgia Southern (3-4).
Georgia Southern trailed 51-43 at halftime, but rallied to take a 68-67 lead with 10:03 left. Gardner-Webb used a 12-2 rally of its own that started about three minutes later to take a 87-76 lead with 3:56 to play.
Georgia Southern closed to 94-90, but strong free-throw shooting by Fields, who was 11-of-14 from the line, kept Gardner-Webb in front.
Chas Criss added 18 for Gardner-Webb, and James Colwell had 14.
Sean Peterson scored 10 and handed out 10 assists for Georgia Southern. Frank Bennett contributed 14, and Terry Williams had 13.
