MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State coach Bill Snyder accepted an invitation to the Insight.Com Bowl on Monday, giving the Wildcats their ninth straight bowl appearance.
Kansas State (6-5) will play Syracuse (9-3) on Dec. 29 in Phoenix.
The Wildcats beat the Orangeman 35-18 in the 1997 Fiesta Bowl. Kansas State's first bowl under Snyder was the Copper Bowl in 1993, which eventually became the Insight.Com bowl.
Four straight early-season losses put the Wildcats out of major bowl contention and forced them to win four of their last five to become bowl eligible. Kansas State lost 31-21 at Nebraska but won at Iowa State and beat Kansas, Louisiana Tech and Missouri at home to clinch eligibility.
"We believe we've made some progress," Snyder said.
