Iowa State going to Independence Bowl

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State accepted a bid Monday to the Independence Bowl, marking the second straight season the Cyclones have earned an extra game.

The Cyclones' opponent for the game Dec. 27 in Shreveport, La., has not been determined. It will be Arkansas if Tennessee beats LSU in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday.

The Cyclones (7-4) beat Pittsburgh in the Insight.com Bowl last year. Before that game, Iowa State's last bowl had been in 1978.
