Midweek glance

What's next: The Tigers (5-5, 3-4 ACC) play host to Duke (0-10, 0-7) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

What's new: Clemson coach Tommy Bowden said Tuesday that he wants to go to a bowl, no matter the destination. The Tigers must beat the Blue Devils to qualify for the postseason.

Pressing question: Two weeks after suffering a deflating loss at South Carolina, can Clemson summon the motivation to beat a pitiful Duke team? Bowl eligibility would seem to provide enough, but Bowden said his biggest task will be getting his players to concentrate on playing a team that has lost 22 straight games.

Notable:Quarterback Woody Dantzler needs 131 yards rushing to become the first player in NCAA history to throw for 2,000 and rush for 1,000 in a season.

Quotable: "I've always been under the (impression) that bowls are there for the players." - Bowden
