New recordings include The Genesis from Busta Rhymes, Smash Mouth's eponymous CD and O-Town's Live From New York.

THURSDAY:

The big top hits town: The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will be at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center, 712 Telfair St., at 7:30 p.m. Other performances will be at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday; 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. FRIDAY:

The Augusta Ballet opens its production of the seasonal classic The Nutcracker at 8 p.m. at the Imperial Theatre, 745 Broad St. Other performances will be at 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10-$35. Call 261-0555.

Movie openings include Behind Enemy Lines, with Gene Hackman as a Navy commander who goes against orders to launch a rescue operation to find a pilot (Owen Wilson) stranded in hostile territory, and Texas Rangers, with James Van Der Beek, Rachael Leigh Cook, Dylan McDermott and Ashton Kutcher.

SATURDAY:

Columbia County will hold its holiday tree-lighting ceremony, Christmas in America, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Government Complex, Ronald Reagan Drive in Evans.

SUNDAY:

The Martinez Christmas parade will begin at 2 p.m., with more than 140 floats, high school marching bands and clowns. The parade will begin at Columbia and Washington Roads and continue east toward Augusta on Washington Road to Davant Street. Call 854-8877.
