AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest November 25, 2001, Mrs. Bernice Barnes Norris, of Liberty Hill Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at First Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Alex Pope officiating. The burial will be in the Old Storm Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Norris, a native of Aiken County, was a member of First Providence Baptist Church where she served on the senior choir, senior ministry and a Sunday school teacher. She was treasurer of the Mt. Canaan Association, Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Stars, Mims Chapter #10, Past Grand Worthy Matron for the state of South Carolina, past most ancient matron of the Heroines of Jericho and matron of the Aiken District. She was a graduate of Bettis Academy Junior College. Survivors include six children, Kenneth (Helen) Norris, Decatur, Veronica (Robert) Curry, Clearwater, S.C., Thomas (Janie) Norris, Hephzibah, Pamela (Larry) Wise, Belvedere, S.C., Jacqueline (Lenoid) Best, Hephzibah, and Warren Norris, Columbia; one sister, Evelyn Barnes, North Augusta; 14 grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; one nephew, Willie William, North Augusta; a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
