GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Duke forward Mike Dunleavy, who averaged 17.8 points in four games last week, was named the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week Monday.
Dunleavy, a 6-9, 220-pound junior from Lake Oswegae, Ore., also averaged 9.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 assists in the four games. He matched his career high with 24 points against South Carolina on Nov. 20 and was named MVP of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.
Freshman forward Josh Powell of North Carolina State, who sparked the Wolfpack to wins over JMU and The Citadel, was named the rookie of the week.
Powell, of Riverdale, Ga., scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Wolfpack's 17-point win over JMU. Against The Citadel, the 6-9, 210-pound Powell got a game-high 16 points and pulled down eight boards.
For the week, Powell scored 26 points, went 12-of-16 from the free throw line and pulled down a dozen rebounds. He also blocked five shots.
