Money dispute leads to stabbing

An Augusta man was stabbed inside his home during a feud over money Monday, authorities said.

Terrance Jones, 27, was stabbed about 8 p.m. at his residence in the 1900 block of Second Avenue, Richmond County sheriff's Maj. Ken Autry said. He required surgery at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition this morning, police said.

The stabbing followed an argument between Mr. Jones and a friend over a debt, Maj. Autry said. The victim told police he was stabbed with a pocketknife in the chest, resulting in a 2-inch cut.

Marcus Wesby, 21, of the 2000 block of Steiner Avenue in Augusta, was arrested two hours later in the 900 block of Gilbert Manor. He was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the Richmond County Jail.
