Mrs. Melvis Cooper



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Melvis Smith Cooper of Augusta, entered into rest Saturday, November 3, 2001. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m., at the funeral home. A private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Cooper was a native of Augusta and had retired from the Meat Department of the Kroger Company. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Richard "Rick" Cooper of Aiken; a daughter, Katharine Lisa Battle of Blythe; three sons, William Edgar Smith III, Michael Bruce Smith, both of North Augusta, Bryan Keith Smith, Hephzibah; two step-daughters, Carrie Jackson, Aiken and Beth Dailey, Hephzibah; and a step-son, Richard "Bo" Cooper Jr., Aiken; six grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Battle, Erica Elaine Battle, Trey Anthony Smith, Christopher Lee Smith, Jonathon Lee Smith, Julia Ellison Smith; two step-grandchildren, Jack Berkshire McCloskey and James Berkshire McClosky. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. William Edgar Smith Jr. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
