ALEXANDER, Ga. - Mr. James Britton "Jake" McClain Sr. of Alexander, died Sunday, November 4, 2001, at University Hospital, Augusta. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, Alexander, with Rev. Keith Jordan and Mr. Charlie Hillis officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel cemetery, Alexander, following the service. Mr. McClain was a lifelong resident of Burke County, a retired farmer and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. McClain was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Z. McClain and mother, Ruth Flakes McClain. Survivors include his wife, Martha Godbee McClain, Alexander; a son, James B. "Jake" McClain Jr., Alexander; two daughters, Janet McClain Oglesby, Waynesboro and Susan McClain Malmberg, Alexander; two sisters, Ann Mack, Ofallon, Mo. and Ellen Tapley, Alexander; four grandchildren, Shane Hire, Maci Oglesby, Megan Malmberg, Micah Malmberg; two uncles, Alvin and B.M. McClain. Pallbearers will be Randy Tapley, Mark McClain, Brian McClain, Hal McClain, David Clayton, Glen Bassett, George Bradham, Johnny Lovett. Also, the family asks that Johnny Jenkins, Greg Coursey and Bobby Posey and the Bethel Baptist Adult Mens Sunday School Class serve as Honorary pallbearers.
