Mrs. Carol Kirkland



BAMBERG, S.C. - Graveside services for Carol K. Kirkland, 63, will be held Thursday, October 18, 2001, at 4 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Ehrhardt. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Kathy Griffin. Mrs. Kirkland, wife of John F. "Buddy" Kirkland, died October 15, 2001, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. She was the daughter of Mary Clarkson Key and the late Corey Pinckney Key of Lodge. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by children, Garnet K. and James Timothy Barnes of Barnwell, Dawn Kirkland and fiance, John Edward Strickland of Orangeburg; grandson, William Greene Barnes II of Barnwell; sisters, Helen K. Fralix of Lodge, Fern K. Ulmer of Lodge and Mary "Millie" McMillan of Lodge. She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was a half-scholarship donor at USC, an avid Gamecock supporter and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She taught in the schools of Colleton, Bamberg, and Allendale Counties and was presently on the faculty of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Cooner Funeral Home in Bamburg is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation, however, friends may call at the home of John F. "Buddy" Kirkland in Colston Community, Bamburg, S.C.
