Midweek glance

What's next: The No. 23 Yellow Jackets (4-2, 1-2 ACC) play host to N.C. State (3-2, 1-2) on Saturday (3:30 p.m., ABC-Ch. 6).

What's new: Georgia Tech head coach George O'Leary said LB Ather Brown, who suffered a broken left foot in the Jackets' Oct. 6 win at Duke, will miss the rest of the season. The injury wasn't thought to be that severe, but later tests revealed a break and not a sprain. Brown will undergo surgery Friday.

Injuries: Brown and LB Daryl Smith (elbow) are out.

Pressing question: How will Georgia Tech recover from two excruciating defeats in three games? The Jackets lost in overtime to Clemson (47-44) and Maryland (20-17), two teams O'Leary says his team should have beaten. Georgia Tech needs a thorough victory over a good team in the biggest way.

Notable: The Jackets have won five of their past six meetings with the Wolfpack.

Quotable: "It speaks for the seniors that they want to win, and it speaks for the people in the program that 4-2 with two overtime losses has people antsy. That's great. That's the way things should be." - O'Leary
