Resource Center on Aging

The Resource Center on Aging is sponsored by University and St. Joseph hospitals; most activities are at the hospitals, in the community and at the center office in Daniel Village on Wrightsboro Road; activities include bridge, bingo, crafts, health and informational seminars, exercise classes and trips.

Note: Reservations required for events; 733-7262 or (800) 413-6652 to register and for times for events; membership ($10, includes prescription discount) required.

EXCURSIONS: Cape Cod, Mass., Sunday-Oct. 19, $660; Halloween at Myrtle Beach, S.C., Oct. 23-25, $225 double, $255 single, $200 triple, $180 quad, featuring a performance of Halloween on Ice.

HEALTH SCREENINGS: Blood pressure, glucose and stroke-risk appraisal; 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Daniel Village.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE: Tuesday, Oct. 23, Daniel Village; $15; by appointment only.

Senior Friends

Classes and activities offered by Senior Friends of Doctors Hospital include chair exercise, bridge, pinochle, canasta and health and educational programs; most activities at Doctors Hospital Medical Office Building No. 3, 1305 Interstate Parkway; $15 a year, open to anyone 50 or older; reservations required; 651-6716.

Shiloh Center

Activities for senior citizens offered 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at Shiloh Comprehensive Community Center, 1635 15th St.; activities include bridge, spades, pinochle and sewing, arts and crafts and wellness programs; home-cooked meals served 1 p.m. Monday-Friday for minimal fee; 738-0089; www.shilohcenter.org.
