Mr. Cecil Rohrer



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Cecil M. Rohrer, of Lincolnton, died peacefully at St. Josephs Hospital on Saturday, October 6, 2001. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at 2 p.m., from Elliott Sons Lumpkin Road Chapel with Pastor John A Pritt officiating. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by the United States Army Ceremonial Detail, Fort Gordon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. A native of Republic, Pa., Mr. Rohrer has resided in the CSRA since 1968. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Augusta and had served as treasurer of his church for a number of years and was a outreach minister at YDC. Mr. Rohrer retired from the United States Army after 24 years of service as a SFC and had tours duty during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After his military retirement Mr. Rohrer retired as a tax assessor from the Richmond County Tax Assessors Office. He was a former member of the Augusta Lions Club and was a board member and treasurer of the Island Club in Hilton Head, S.C. Mr. Rohrer was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Helga Elizabeth Glitza. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Darrell Walden Sr., Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Dawn DeWitt, Grovetown, Darrell Walden Jr. and April Walden both of Lincolnton; one great-grandson, Nicholas DeWitt, Grovetown; two brothers, Donald Rohrer, Summerset, Pa. and Clarence Stimmel, Columbia, S.C. Remembrances may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church 1032 Atomic Road, North Augusta, SC 29841 or to the St. Josephs Hospice 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
