BELVEDERE, S.C.- Mr. Frank Louie Hanks, 79, the beloved husband of Annie Casey Hanks, entered into rest Sunday, September 23, 2001, at the Millbrook Manor Residence Care facility in Aiken, S.C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Coyle officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded at the graveside. Mr. Hanks was a native of Anderson County and attended Clemson University, majoring in electrical engineering. He was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served during WWII as a Staff Sergeant. He also worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian in Tokyo, Japan, as a telecommunications radar specialist. During 1952 Mr. Hanks began a career with E. I. DuPont De Nemours & Company Inc. at the Savannah River Plant and was later transferred to DuPonts Explosives Plant located in Seneca, Ill. He returned to SRP in 1970 and retired in 1984 with 32 years of service. Additional survivors include a son, Lee William Hanks of North Augusta; a daughter, Mary Sue Hanks Dearman of Aiken; one grandchild, David Lee Hanks; and one great-grandchild, David Lee Hanks, Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Research Foundation, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904 or to the American Red Cross, to provide assistance for the victims of the recent horrific tragedy on America, 1322 Ellis St., Augusta, GA 30904.
