AIKEN, S.C. - Alexander K. Conrad, 85, husband of Florence Mason Conrad, died Friday, September 7, 2001, at Carriage Hills Plantation Nursing Center in Aiken. Born in Newark, New Jersey he was the son of the late Constance Kondicz and Fannie Kalinowski. Mr. Conrad was twice married, first to the late Ruth McKain and later to Florence Mason Conrad. Mr. Conrad was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Aiken, and was a graduate of Syracuse University School of Forestry in New York with a Masters Degree in Economics from American University in Washington, D.C. He was a retired forester and export manager for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Augusta, Ga. He was a U.S. Navy Ensign veteran serving in World War II. Surviving are his wife of Aiken; one daughter, Betty C. Rapp of Aiken; three grandchildren, Patrick J. Rapp, Alex Rapp and Marci Rapp; two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2001, at St. Johns United Methodist Church chapel in Aiken, with Rev. Shelia Rogers officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2001, in the Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sumter County with Rev. Olin McBride officiating.
