On Sept. 1, The Augusta Chronicle published my letter to the editor regarding bigotry. Since then, I have learned that there was no connection between City Administrator George Kolb and the trash collection issue as alluded to in my letter. I have also learned more about the process used by the city to organize and implement the trash collection program.
I was incorrect in my statement that it was "crammed down our throats." The truth is that the principles of representative government were followed.
I regret having made assumptions concerning Mr. Kolb's position and input in this county program. I apologize to Mr. Kolb for casting him in an unfavorable light.
