AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at the Medical College of Georgia, Kelsey Lynn Gates, age 10, beloved daughter of the Rev. Dr. Sidney A. Gates and Dana Thorp Gates of Augusta. Other family members include a sister, Emma Elizabeth Gates; maternal grandparents, Erich and Pat Thorp of Richmond Hill; and Diane and Buck Fisk of Edisto Island, S.C.; paternal grandparents, Mary Pitts Gates of Columbus, and the late Rev. Dr. Sidney A. Gates Sr. Kelsey was a fifth grader at Lake Forest Hills Elementary School, a member of Reid Memorial Childrens Choir, Girl Scouts of America Troop #737 and was recognized by the GA Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis for raising the largest dollar amount in Georgia for the year 2001. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2001, at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery T. Newlin, the Rev. Dr. G. Daniel McCall Sr. and Rev. Mark W. Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Kelsey may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 2250 N.
