Denies Norwood 'sold out' patients



Regarding Lowell Greenbaum's Aug. 8 letter accusing U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood, R-Ga., of "selling out" HMO patients by negotiating a limited liability bill with President George W. Bush:

This is typical liberal rhetoric, masking the real thrust of a piece of Democrat-led legislation which, in this case, was a carte blanche invitation to trial lawyers to litigate their pockets full, duplicitously referring to it as "a real patient protection bill."

The last thing we need, in light of the already incomprehensible costs of medical care, is another cash cow incentive for lawyers to add to the problem.
