SWAINSBORO, Ga. - Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary announces the death of Mr. Jimmy Byron Scott, age 47, of Swainsboro, on Friday, August 10, 2001, at the Emanuel Medical Center after a long illness. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Swainsboro with the Rev. Phil Wilson and Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. Entombment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Jerry Kersey, Brent Mann, Johnny Cowart, Keith Johnson, Chris Fields and Chuck Canady. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Swainsboro Supply Company. The family will receive friends at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary on Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Scott, a native of Emanuel County, was a salesman with Swainsboro Suppply Company and was a member of the El Bethal Baptist Church near Twin City. Survivors include his wife, Teresa O. Scott of Swainsboro; his mother and stepfather, Ray and Annette Woods Thompson of Swainsboro; a daughter, Misty Scott of Macon, Ga.; a stepson, Jamie Johnson of Summertown, Ga.; a brother, Lynn Scott of Melbourne, Fla.; three stepbrothers, Keith and Roy Thompson of Swainsboro, Bill Thompson of Tifton, Ga.
