Lisa Kathleen Arnold was crowned Miss Augusta 2002 tonight at Augusta State University's Performing Arts Theatre.
Miss Arnold also won the swimsuit competition and People's Choice award. This was the first year of the People's Choice award, which was chosen by the audience.
Gail Morrison Wheatley was the first runner-up and Christy Monique Bonaparte was second runner-up.
Contestant Dana Clarke won the talent competition and was chosen Miss Congeniality.
The pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Georgia contest and the Miss America pageant. To qualify for the pageant, a woman must be between the ages of 17 and 24, be a full-time student or employee and live in one of six counties: Columbia, Richmond, Burke, Jefferson, McDuffie and Lincoln.
