AIKEN, S.C. - Graveside Services for Reuben W. Yon, Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. July 30, 2001, at Salley Cemetery. Rev. Martha M. Ebel will officiate. Mr. Yon, 72, of Williamsburg Street, N.E., who died July 28, 2001, in Aiken Regional Medical Centers, was born August 11, 1928, in Aiken to Reuben W. and Ida Miller Yon. He was a veteran who served on the U.S.S. Salisbury Sound during the Korean War. He was also a musician and played steel guitar on the Peach Blossom Special TV show in Augusta during the 1950s. Mr. Yon was a member of First Baptist Church of Aiken. He was an avid golfer and member of Cedar Creek Country Club. Mr. Yon retired after forty-one years of service DuPont and Westinghouse at Savannah River Site. Survivors include his wife, Louise McManus Yon; two sons, Rueben W. "Butch" Yon III and James L. "Jimmy" Yon, both of Aiken; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia D. Yon and Neil L. Moyer of Aiken; a sister, Dorothy Y. Hogan of Natchez, Miss.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 29, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the residence.
